  • Bio:

    Winona has been doing her family genealogy for 60 years. She started researching her family when a young child. She has been interested in genealogy ever since. Winona was able to locate living relatives back in Sweden. She learned when her family arrived in the United States and saw how her surname had changed. She has researched most of her family lines back to the 16th and 17th centuries and one line back to 700. Family is very important to Winona. When her daughters were in high school, Winona went back to school and became an accountant and tax preparer. She worked for several accounting firms but decided to strike out on her own and opened her own practice in Kent where she worked for over 20 years. She is now retired and spends her time teaching and lecturing genealogy. Winona is offering classes or lectures for the beginner to the experienced genealogists, for a list of presentations go to: She has written and published a book “Have you Ever Lived in a Mining Town”. Her grandmothers live story. She is a Member South King County Genealogical Society, (President -June 2011- 2013). Currently coordinator of their Family Tree Makers User’s group, and the Educational Chairman, National Genealogical Society and Federation of Genealogical Societies, Federation of Genealogical Society, PS-APG Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists. Also a Member of Association of Professional Genealogists (national organization). Founder and developer of Genealogy Training Center, in Kent, Washington, 26223 144th Ave SE. Teaching how to analyze the records, what all the sources are and how to use them. Computer technology use in genealogy and the genealogy software programs.
