At Your Fingertips:
The search for one’s ancestry can lead to many fascinating worlds of yesteryear. A complimentary way to help our progeny in their future quests is to record what we know of our family history. Filmmaker Walter Schlomann will relate his expertise producing family video biographies and the excitement and satisfaction that come from documenting one’s family history. Points of discussion include examples of the role of oral history, how stories contribute to the continuity of family, and the tricks memories play on us.

A Ring on Every Finger: The Ever Changing Role of Jewish Women
The presentation uses excerpts of video biographies of Jewish women to present their life-stories and views on diverse topics. Subjects narrate anecdotes of their grandmothers, mothers, and their own experiences in a tapestry that is filled with humor, eloquence, and moving moments. The idea of recording stories as a way to preserve family history is discussed, as well as cases of ‘Untold Stories’, in which subjects didn’t even know they were Jewish because of the scars of the Holocaust.
